Summary: #34 - Converge actual modules toward new applications : Prospect Handling, Planning
24/10/2006
I red with plaesure in eGW survey and in agenda of conference 24-26/11 that you intend to develop the links between applications Addressbook, Infolog, Calendar,…
This is a natural evolution because otherwise everybody would be satisfied with Outlook Express addressbook, Microsoft or others Notes and Calendars applications.
Even if the purpose of our opensource application is not to become a “business application” with accounting , manufacturing… modules, you decided well to invest on differents modules like SiteManager and Projet handling to bring a service to a larger community.
My purpose now is to give you my feeling that we should broaden the audience of eGW in working about close applications to our actual core base :
- a kind of “Prospect Handling” based on Addressbook+Infolog with notions of dates included in the Adressbook file and display (today only ‘birthday’ date not even sortable).
- a kind of “Field Service Team Planning” with AfterSales&Repair philosophy based on Addressbook+calendar+project+infolog with planning chart.
These two directions would get a large audience even in Public Services and give an added value to the present stable modules.
As i will not attend your conference in Kirchheimbolanden 24-26/11, i just hope somebody will bring up these ideas to go ahead. And maybe specialist people attending this meeting will know about yet existing opensource applications to merge eGW and save time and efforts in these new developpements.
With my best regards to all.
Thierry

Hi,
we reset all priority to 5, which is the new initial state of tracker items. The priority can now only be changed by Tracker admins or the assigned developer. This allows the developers to manage their work with the priorities. Users can vote to articulate their priorities.
Thanks for your understanding
Ralf
