Summary: #1505 - more ACL possibiltiis concerning the addressbook entries of users
have a look at Nr. 379, which has a irritating Summary ans is marked as closed:

Att he momente the Users-associated Addressbook entries are all of the group “Account”, this way it is not possbile to use the sophisticated group ACL-Rights und grouping function in the addressbook for Users.

This feature is quite important for us, because we will have lots of different users in different groups.
For more information see the forum http://www.nabble.com/egroupware-addressbook-tf3027656s3741.html#a8485647

there is a german entry, too, which should be deleted: 1244
saying:
it would be great if there were more possibilties to configure how users are listes:
e.g.

  1. only users of the same primary group (seems already implementes according to Ralf)
  2. all users of the groups the user belongs to

Hi Frank,
if the Accounts addressbook is only visible for admins, you selected an Account-Selection-Method, that hides all accounts or non-group-members from your users. For that method with suppress the Accounts addressbook, as it would give them information not meant for them.
Alternativly you can select “primary group with search”, then the can see the Accounts addressbook too.
Admins can also configure the addressbook, to allow the user himself to maintain certain (or all) fields of his own contact.
I dont think editing by the primary group, is what most installs want to allow.
Ralf

Hi Ralf,

I don’t want that all the primary group has write-access to user data, by default, that would be indeed a feature many people won’t want.
I want the possible to move adressbook entries of users to different addressbooks. You don’t have to. They could stay in Group-users as default. This way you could realise very different ACLs concerning the addressbook.
It has something to do with my lose-community-situation:
I don’t have any other addresses than users, so I need the nice ACL-configuration possibilities, which only work for different addressbook at the moment, for users, too.

I should create a new entry like “enhanced user addressbooks ACLs: possibility to move user-addresses to other addressbooks” , this would be more exact …
