Summary: #2163 - RECOVER SYNC - calendar/contacts - TESTS are not exact the same
hi,
so i test now RECOVER SYNC in detail.
the idea for checking is:
to sync all appointments tofrom outlook to EGW (recover sync delete all old appointments on server or on outlook) - depends on direction.
then i can compare if all appointments are the same or if something is missing.

well i did it: (calendar items 1111)

1.) RECOVER SYNC all appointments from Outlook to EGW
then
2.) backup/copy all appointments in outlook to compare folder "calendar_compare"
3.) RECOVER SYNC all appointments from EGW to Outlook
and it works without an error, but …there are differents

and then i compare the appointments on outlook with the calendar: “calendar_compare”

BUG:

what i see is: (1085 from 1111 are complete the same)
differents are in detail:

1.) all birthdays are different with 1 hour - so they are different to orig.
ex:
outlook orig: Geburtstag von Christian 22.10.1962 00:00
EGW’s sync: Geburtstag von Christian 22.10.1962 01:00

2.) special chars are handled different
ex:
outlook orig: Christbaum richten mit Trinkl’s
EGW’s sync: Christbaum richten mit Trinkl’s
ex:
outlook orig: bei "Freiwilligen Vesicherung"
EGW’s sync: bei “Freiwilligen Vesicherung”

3.) on contacts are did the same and it was looking almost good (excluded the saveas and so it is different)
ex:
outlook orig: saveas: "Wutzlbauer, Hans (Firma X)"
EGW’s sync: saveas: “Herr Hans Wutzlbauer”

some ideas what it can be ?

to 1: 1hr different - time zone ? bug ?
to 2: i have configured UTF8 - bug ?
to 3: i have configured “Name, Surename (Company)” in EGW settings and own sort is also set to this options, and further also set in outlook as default- so why is it different ? bug ?

2. I don’t get the point???

  1. Don’t store Birthdays within the Outlook Calendar. Outlook does not handle these properly. You will alway end up with a mess due to TZ issues. Keep these dates in you contacts.

on bug 3 - i checked the db. in the db the n_fileas there it is the same as it is in outlook.
so for me, it seems to be, that on RECOVER SYNCING FROM EGW TO OL - there is the problem.
i’m testing with the lastest trunk 27449
    @ralf
thanks for merging syncml-1.2 to trunk
