Summary: #1919 - Field “File As” losts for all contacts after sync Contacts with mobile phone
Many mobile phones have a “File as” field for each contact that store string how to show this contact in contacts list.
I have use this field very often. But after doing sync my mobile phone with eGroupWare (using Funambol sync software), I lost all info on all contacts from this field!
I think eGroupWare must store this info in some field, don’t remove it.
Will be good to add this field to the Addressbook, because it was very useful for me and, I think, for many other people. Example of use:
I have a contact:
First name: Sergey
Middle name: Vladimirovich
Last name: Potapov
Nickname: Potapcheg
And I want see in contact list one of this variants:
- Sergey Potapov
- Potapcheg
- Sergey Potapcheg Potapov
- [custom text] Potapcheg (from Alexey Michneen)
For do this we need to add 2 fields into Addressbook database:
- File As (setted with custom text or filling by javascript with variants [First Name Last name], [First Name Middle name Last name], [First Name Nickname Last name] etc)
- Nick field (many people have a unique nicknames by which there are easy to find they)

I have found some info about “File as” support in funambol:

Sounds that it exist in funambol.
I have check how other software save this field:
KAddressBook name it as “Formatted Name” and save in VCard (2.1 and 3.0) as “FN”, Name, FamilyName in “N”.
Evolution name it as “File Under” and save in VCard (2.1 and 3.0) as “X-EVOLUTION-FILE-AS”. Also in wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VCard) this field is described.
Outlook Express name it as “File as” and save in VCard as “FN”.
Mozilla Thunderbird name it as “Display Name” and save in ldif as “cn” (i don’t found how save it as vcard).
I think better method is to select in settings how name this field in VCard and set the “X-EVOLUTION-FILE-AS” as default.
P.S. Will be good to add a “Nickname” field too in eGroupWare addressbook, it names as “NICKNAME” in VCard.

There is no VCARD field defined for the WM "File as". eGW supports the field internally, but the Funambol Client can not sent/receive these entries today. It could use e.g. X-FILEAS and we would then support it on eGW side. The NICKNAME filed is stored as "label" in the eGW datebase but again not used by Funambol.
