Hi,
I have the necessity to integrate into Filemanager component an indexing and searching documents tool (like Terrier), for a project having ASI (Italian Space Agency) as customer.
Are there already works in progress for this kind of engine? Otherwise, I can contribute to develop the tool inside the community.
Thanks

We (Stylite) have plans to integrate something similar in the new file-
and document management emerging currently in trunk.

The work on an eGW wide index is also started. That index should allow
to search the whole eGroupWare data including the files. We have not yet
decided what to use to generate the index for documents.
Zend\_Search\_Lucene is eg. a possibility.

If you or your customer is interested in supporting eGroupWare new file
and document management, please let us know.

Hi Ralf,
I would know if you consider to release the new features (indexing and searching docs) of Filemanager in the 1.6 version of eGW? I don’t see it in the RoadMap 1.6.
Where can I see what has been already done in eGW sources related to index for documentation?
If I would contribute to developments, I have to refer to you (Stylite) or to eGW community?
My urgency comes from the necessity to have a eGroupWare with a Filemanager supporting indexing and searching tool in 3/4 months.
My company can also subscribe to your professional support, if necessary.
Thanks in advance

I dont think so. They will simply not be ready 'til 1.6, which is
planned for to have the first RC in June.

Only documentation is in the source so far:
[http://www.egroupware.org/egroupware/trunk/phpgwapi/inc/class.egw\_index.inc.php](http://www.egroupware.org/egroupware/trunk/phpgwapi/inc/class.egw_index.inc.php)

That’s not application specific, it only defines methods to break down
entries into keywords and store them for the entry. It also allows to
associate categories to entries to search them too. At last it contains
methods to get SQL to include in own queries searching for a pattern or
to get the app/entry-id pairs matching a pattern.

The newest version is not yet commited - thought I dont think I changed
the method interface. I also have a first implementation using the index
for the infolog app (also not commited).

You can contact Stylite, if you want to sponsor a certain development.
We will publish a call for sponsors for the document management this or
the next week on the lists.

Is that 3-4 month or .75 month?

The professional support is currently not a development model 😉
